According to Vulture, director Sam Raimi and tenatative wizard Franco approached Kunis for the part of Theodorah, the younger sister of Evanorah who eventually becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. After their meeting, Kunis was agreed upon as perfect for the part, so much so that based on her involvement, Franco officially agreed to do the picture
Oz: The Great and Powerful tells the origin story of Oz (James Franco) and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, Evanorah, the Wicked Witch of the East, and her sister, Theodorah, the Wicked Witch of the West (Mila Kunis).
Mila Kunis reportedly left the live-action adaptation of Akira to star in Oz: The Great and Powerful. The actress recently met with director Sam Raimi and James Franco, who both agreed she would be perfect for the part. It was Mila Kunis’ commitment to the project that lead James Franco to come aboard.
Sam Raimi will direct from a screenplay by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shooting will begin this June at Walt Disney Studios.
Oz: The Great and Powerful comes to theaters in 2013 and stars James Franco, Mila Kunis. The film is directed by Sam Raimi.
